Hi John, Nancy Thiel, Troy's Mom, bringing very sad news
about our precious son Troy. Troy passed away on Wednesday, May 4 at 12:20 PM
in my arms here at our home. He lost the fierce battle he waged to fight the
very rare cancer that struck him down in August 2004. He put up a valiant fight
to buy time to get all his affairs in order. He wrote his obituary, plans for
his funeral , a list of friends and their email addresses with instructions to
me to let his friends know of his death when it occurred. He told us last
Saturday that he did not want anymore intravenous feedings after Saturday. He
had everything in order, the illness was getting to be too unbearable to
continue the fight when he knew it was a no win situation. He lived three more
horrible days and died here at our home with his Dad and I and the nurse
attending to him.He said he was ready and he had a very good ife, no regrets
and he had things in order. He said he would liked to have lived a little
longer so he could visit his friends on a return trip to Europe but God must
have other things for him to do. He reminded us to tell the funeral director to
clean his glasses ( a detail often missed!. Doesn't that sound just like him?
The funeral service will be at Memorial Oaks Funeral home at 1306 West Main
Street in Brenham at 3PM on Monday, May 9. We are having visitation and
refreshments at our home after the service. He did not know this but the Living
History Group, that Troy was a part of for 17 years is planning an honor guard
in his honor at the service. That is one they put by on him. I wish you and
your young family much happiness and Troy treasured your times together and
your friendship.
