KAY HAMMIL
|
HERSELF |
ABOUT HERSELF |
HERSELF AND
EAW |
|
Kay is married (for just about an eternity
now ) and has two grown children, both of whom work in the tech industry. At
present, she resides in the Pacific Northwest of the U.S. and is working in
sales and support. Her children came by their interests naturally, since Kay
has followed tech issues for twenty years or so and worked in tech support,
both hardware and software, for part of that time. Whilst Kay still mainly
flies only to test add-ons, she has been known to fly the odd mission in her
personal ride, a gorgeous P-51D skinned by 'Shreck'. Only when no one is
watching, though, since, while she flies beautifully, she is still a rotten
shot. |
Kay's EAW aka is 'Huntress'. Kay has always been in charge
of software installation and maintenance on the family home systems. After
finding 'Max188's' website, she located Sandbagger's All-World websites and
became far more involved in EAW, due to the fabulous add-ons developed by
others. At present, her involvement with EAW at SimHQ involves technical issues
in installing and running EAW as well as resolving any other technical issues
for individuals. |

|
ABOUT HIMSELF |
Kurt was born in 1949 in Wichita Kansas and followed his
fathers businesses (one at a time) around western USA, some of the time living
at a lake resort near Phoenix, Arizona, - in Los Angeles, - in Eureka, Nevada
on a cattle ranch, -in Seattle, Washington, - in Hamilton, Montana on another
cattle ranch, etc. Kurt wanted to fly for the Air Force after school and was
taking flying lessons then, but the U.S. Army drafted him before he even
graduated from High School. Eventually he attained a BFA from University of
Colorado and later earned an MBA from University of Phoenix. Kurt then moved to
Melbourne, Australia in 1972 to teach art history, art and photography.
Eventually he returned to the USA in 1974 to help his father run his (yet
another) cattle ranch in Kansas after he was injured and couldn't work the
place. Since he also had to make some money he went to work for Boeing in
Wichita working on the B-52's and KC-135's that were coming back from Viet Nam
for refit and refurbishment. He worked in the same hangars that all the B-29's
were produced in during WWII. After a couple of years, his father got onto his
feet, Kurt got a divorce, and he and his son moved on to Denver. Kurt started
and ran a commercial photography studio in Denver for several years. However,
he no longer had the heart to continue with it after his son Sean, then 16
years old, was killed in an auto crash. It changed Kurt's life. He got into
data technology, sales and marketing, got married to a great woman, 'Marian' (
who I have named all my planes after) and moved out of the city to the
mountains. He now has 2 great kids, ages 11 and 14. Along the way, he took up
skydiving, built and flew his own AcroSport II open cockpit 2 seat biplane,
which was "Maid Marian III", got an instrument and commercial pilot rating and
flew all over the USA from coast to coast. He competed in cross country air
races for about 3 years and even won a couple of them. For a time, he was also
a First Lieutenant with the Civil Air Patrol and flew search missions around
the local mountains. He had a small model kit manufacturing company on the side
- making 1:48 scale vacuform kits which I sold all over the world by mail
order. Some of the model makers on the forum might recognize the company "The
Aviators". He made all of the kit masters himself and did the artwork etc.
Nowdays Kurt is busy with a hot rod which he is slowly refurbishing - a 1939
Oldsmobile sedan with a Chevy subframe and drive train. It will have a big new
350 HP big block 350 c.i. Chevy high performance engine along with new tuned
exhausts, high torque converter, etc. Kurt is now the sales and marketing
director for a small local distributor of GE lighting fixtures, lamps and
controls, which is right next to Coors Baseball Stadium in Denver - "go
Colorado Rockies". Kurt's favorite saying is: "Nobody said the world was fair,
but at least it's flat." |
