This skin depicts a Fairey
Swordfish Mk.I of No.820 Squadron, Fleet Air Arm, HMS Ark Royal, Mediterranean,
1940. This aircraft was based on the original 3DZ model by Woolfman, enhanced by Moggy. This aircraft was commonly reffered to as the
"Stringbag", due to it's somewhat outdated design at the outbreak of World War
Two. However, the aircraft did take part in several high profile operations
during the early war years. This has always been one of my favorite aircraft of
that period. It's incredible just how successful it was. The original skin was
by Captain Kurt, altered to fit the new
model by Redeyes'. (P-51B Slot) |
This skin depicts a Fairy Swordfish
Mk.II of the Fleet Air Arm. Woolfman's
original skin had an "H" in a yellow square. This was the common marking for
Swordfish serving with the Canadian Air Force. I made a slight change to the
original pcx to give a more typical FAA marking. Some of the weapons carried by
this aircraft rockets, which were very commonly used by the Mk.II for ship
interdictions. This aircraft was commonly reffered to as the "Stringbag", due
