DOUGLAS AIRCRAFT

DOUGLAS TBD DEVESTATOR

This aircraft depicts a Douglas TBD Devastator of VT-3 USS Yorktown. This aircraft was flown by Capt. Wilhelm G Esders and gunner ARM2C R.B. Brazier at Midway. This aircraft survived the Midway battle, although gunner Brazier was killed. Ten out of twelve TBDs were lost attacking the Japanese aircraft carrier "Hiryu". This 3DZ model and skin were created by Captain Kurt, based on original work by Woolfman and Cord Hartmann. (P-51B Slot)

This skin depicts a Douglas TBD Devastator of VT-6, USS Enterprise. This aircraft was flown by Lt. Cdr. E.E. Lindsey and gunner ACRM C.T. Grenat. It was shot down on the run in to attack the Japanese aircraft carrier "Kaga". Eight out of twelve TBDs were lost in the attack. This 3DZ model and skin were created by Captain Kurt, based on original work by Woolfman and Cord Hartmann. (P-51B Slot)

This skin depicts the Douglas TBD Devastator of VT-8 , USS Hornet. This aircraft was flown by Ens. George Gay with gunner ARM3c R. K. Huntington. VT-8 was destroyed at Midway, 1942, with Ens. Gay the only survivor. This 3DZ model and skin were created by Captain Kurt, based on original work by Woolfman and Cord Hartmann. (P-51B Slot)

This skin depicts the Douglas TBD Devastator of VT-5 , USS Yorktown, as it appeared during the hit and run attacks on Jaluit, Lae-Salamua, and Tulagi from February 1942 to May 1942. On May 7th this plane took part in the Coral Sea battle attack on the Japanese carrier Shoho, flown by CAP E.J. Williamson and gunner RM3c J.B. Crawford. VT-5 received good fighter cover, unlike what was to occur at Midway, and no TBDs were lost while sinking the Shoho.. This skin depicts a Douglas SBD-4 'Dauntless' of the U.S. Marine Corp, Marine Air Group (MAG) 12, Solomons theater, late 1943 and 1944 period. This new 3DZ model and skin were created by Captain Kurt, based on the original of Woolfman. The cockpit is by Claudio Wilches. (P-51B Slot)

This skin depicts a Douglas SBD-3 'Dauntless' of the VMSB-241, based on Midway during June 1942. This aircraft took part in first attack on the approaching Japanese carrier task force. Although badly shot up, it made it back to Midway after the attack. This new 3DZ model and skin were created by Captain Kurt, based on the original of Woolfman. The cockpit is by Claudio Wilches.
