GRUMMAN AVENGER |
This skin depicts a Grumman TBF Avenger of VT-8 at Midway Island June 1942.
This was the only aircraft from the entire VT-8 squadron, including their TBDs
from the aircraft carrier 'Hornet' and the TBFs from Midway Island ,to survive
the Battle of Midway. Badly damaged, the aircraft managed to make it back to
Midway for a crash landing. This updated 3DZ model and skin were created by Captain Kurt, based on the original model by Woolfman. (P-47D Slot) |

CURTISS SB2C-1 HELLDIVER |
This skin depicts a Curtiss SB2C-1 Helldiver of VB2 on the USS Yorktown, June
1944. This model represents the first mark of the Helldiver used in combat by
the US Navy. It was flown during the Battle of the Philippine Sea, June
1944. This aircraft has a new 3DZ model and skin by Captain Kurt. The readme file gives details of this skin and credits those involved in it's creation. (P-47D Slot) |
CURTISS SB2C-3 HELLDIVER |
This skin depicts a Curtiss SB2C-3 Helldiver of VB18 on the USS Intrepid, June
1944. This was the second mark of the Helldiver used in combat by the US Navy.
It was flown during strikes against Japanese surface units including their
remaining carriers in the Sibuyan Sea and off North East Luzon. This particular
aircraft participated in the missions that sank the super-battleship Musashi,
October 1944 - returning to the Intrepid with AA damage. This aircraft has a new 3DZ model and skin by Captain Kurt. The readme file gives details of this skin and credits those involved in it's creation. (P-47D Slot) |

This skin depicts a Brewster F2A3 Buffalo, flown by the US Marines VMF221 from

CHANCE-VOUGHT AIRCRAFT |
CHANCE-VOUGHT F4U-1 CORSAIR |
This skin depicts the Chance Vought F4U-1 "birdcage canopy" Corsair, which was
flown by Capt. James N. Cupp, USMC, VMF-213, operating from Munda during
September 1943. Capt. Cupp scored 12.5 kills and 2 probables. His aircraft was
named the "DAPHNE C" after Cupp's wife. VMF-213 relieved VMF-124 at Gaudalcanal
on April 1, 1943. Cupp was with VMF-213 for 2 tours on Guadalcanal and one tour
on Munda. During his last tour, he was shot down by defensive fire from a Betty
bomber he was attacking. He was badly burned when bailing out and spent 18
months in hospital. He needed 14 operations before recovering enough to be

This skin depicts the aircraft flown by Maj. Donald H. Stapp, USMC, when
commanding VMF-222 during the Solomons Campaign. He scored 12 kills. Osprey
"Aces" says 10/4/2 but they also list his last name as Sapp!! He won a Navy
Cross and DFC in the Solomons. Later he commanded VMF 122 at Peleliu in the
Central Pacific. He received a bar to his DFC and 3 Air Medals. Stapp also
served in Vietnam and retired as a full Colonel. The readme file gives details of this skin and credits those involved in it's creation. (P-51D Slot) |
CHANCE SB2U-3 VINDICATOR |
This skin depicts a SB2U-3 Vindicator VMSB-241, flown by 2Lt. James Marmande
with gunner PFC. Ed Colvin during the attack on the IJN Battleship Haruna at
