DOUGLAS BOSTON Mk.III |
This model depicts a Douglas Boston Mk.III of No. 88 Squadron, RAF, Circa 1942.
This Squadron flew this aircraft type from 1940 to April 1945 and was one of
only 4 RAF Squadrons to do so. Employed as medium and low level bombers, this
Squadron was in constant action over France and the low countries. Later in
1944 they became a part of the 2nd TAF and provided tactical air support the
Commonwealth armies advancing into Germany. This 3DZ model was created by Captain Kurt and the aircraft skin was created by DeanH. This model has a specific cockpit created by Captain Kurt. Utilities used during the construction of this model were the 3DZ Studio and 3DZ converter tools by Alessandro Borges. The readme file gives details of this skin and credits those involved in it's creation. This download contains both Flyable and Non-Flyable versions. DOUGLAS A-20A |
This model depicts a Douglas A-20A of No.22 Squadron, RAAF, which began
operations with the A-20A in New Guinea 1942-43. They also flew Boston III
versions. This group was re-equipped with Australian built Beauforts in 1944.
Flt. Ltn. W.E. Newton won the Victoria Cross, the Commonwealth's highest honor
on March 16th 1943, flying with this squadron. During this mission he and his
gunner, Sgt. J. Lyon, were shot down and captured by the Japanese. Flt. Ltn.
Newton was beheaded and Sgt. Lyon was bayonetted to death by the Japanese as
their punishment for being captured. The Australians adopted the USAAF gun nose
conversion for their A-20's. It carried 6 .50 claliber machine guns in the nose
and was used for low level missions against Japanese barges, shipping and other
installations, and other ground attack duties supporting the Australian Army's
advance against Buna. They were used both as a strafer and bomber. This 3DZ model was created by Captain Kurt and the aircraft skin was created by DeanH. This model depicts a Bristol Beaufort Mk.VII torpedo bomber
from No.217 Sqdn, Coastal Command, based in Malta in 1941. The aircraft were
used for anti-shipping attacks on Italian and German shipping. This version
used twin Wasp engines. This aircraft has a new 3DZ model and skin by Captain Kurt. The model was based on the Blenheim Mk.IV, which was itself based on the Beaufighter of Woolfman. The skin was also based on an original by Woolfman. (MOSQ Slot) |
This model depicts a Bristol Beaufort Mk.VII torpedo bomber
from No.100 Sqdn. RAAF, based in Wewak New Guinea in 1944. Australia used this
type extensively for anti-shipping strikes against the Japanese. This version
was manufactured in Australia using twin Wasp engines - around 700 were
completed there. This aircraft has a new 3DZ model and skin by Captain Kurt. The model was based on the Blenheim Mk.IV, which was itself based on the Beaufighter of Woolfman. The skin was also based on an original by Woolfman. (MOSQ Slot) |

NORTH AMERICAN MITCHELL MK.II (B25D) |
This skin represents a Mitchell MK.II (B-25D) sent to the Royal Air Force under
the lend-lease program. It flew with No. 226 Squadron, 2nd Tactical Air Force,
RAF, based at Gilze Rijen, Netherlands in late 1944. This Squadron operated in
support of the advancing Allied armies in the tactical support role. The D-Day
invasion markings were retained due to the pressure of operations which

This skin depicts a Royal New Zealand Air Force Kittyhawk Mk.III, flown by No.s

This skin depicts a Fairey Battle of the AASf. These aircraft were employed as
the main RAF bomber used by the AASF in France 1940, at the time of the German
invasion. Although obsolescent, the brave RAF crews flew unstintingly against
German columns and captured bridges and in the process were slaughtered. Almost
the entire AASF force of Fairey Battles was destroyed in France and it was

This skin depicts a Fairey Fulmar Mk.1 of the Fleet Air Arm. This particular
aircraft was probably from No.803 squadron, serving with HMS Formidable during
1941 and used for Mediterranean convoys escorts. However, the aircraft could
also be from No.800 Squadron serving with HMS Indomintable in the Mediterranean

This skin depicts a Fairey Fulmar Mk.1 of the Fleet Air Arm.
This particular aircraft was probably from No.803 squadron, serving with HMS
Formidable during 1941 and used for Mediterranean convoys escorts. However, the
aircraft could also be from No.800 Squadron serving with HMS Indomintable in
the Mediterranean during 1941. Note that the British roundels were overpainted
with the U.S. star. This was done to make the enemy forces believe that only

Squadron, operating from many bases in Libya and Egypt during 1942. This model is a true EAW community project. This aircraft was created by Claudio Wilches with the wing hardpoints for bombs and rockets by Col. Gibbon. The new 3DZ model and tropical air filter were created by Captain Kurt. Force, flown by Flying Officer "Butch" Hamilton, a pilot with two kills in the
Pacific Theatre of Operations - Northern Australia. F/O Hamilton served with
