Hi there,

these files have been created to determine which pallette indexes can screw up your so carefully created screens.
It can test any .PIC and .MPC or any other picture which uses the 640*480 resolution. It will show if any special colours have special functions as in the rotating colours in MAIN2.PIC. To use it you can rename the PALLY.PIC included to any screenfile you want to test and drop it into your EAW folder. When the game is run the PALLY screen will replace the file you are testing and a screenshot can be made after which you can compare the original pallette on the PALLY.PCX file with the one in your screenshot.
To make a good conversion of your screen any colours which are deviating from the PALLY palette should be set to a neutral colour which is not used in your pictures (hard purple/pink is usually a good choice because these colours are hardly ever used). This will force the conversion to use the available colours in the pallette and the screen will be properly displayed in the game.
For mainscreens I am searching for the indexes that are being used for the seperate text display which takes its pallette info from the MPC/PIC as well. You can copy colours from your pallette to these indexes or move them around a bit to make the text readable but sofar I only found half of them. As soon as all are found I will post the indexes at SimHQ.
