Hurricane Mk IIb, SA-K, serial Z5309, of No.486 (NZ) Squadron RAF, Kirton-in-Lindsay, 15/3/42 to 27/5/42.

I worked off a photograph taken by F/L Harvey Sweetman, then Flight Commander of 'B' Flight. However it wasn't this plane he scored the first squadrons aerial victory. I have only checked briefly the book I use as main source about the 486 Sqn and couldn't find which pilot flew it. But by March the squadron was just being formed. It became operable the next month as night-fighter squadron, and by then the Hurricanes were painted black (maybe not all of them, though).
