1. Introduction

Thank you for downloading MeatWater EAW SoundPack v2.0,
the ultimate AddOn for Microprose' "European Air War".
By downloading the full version you can be sure that you
will also get the "full experience" - especially when flying
a career as a german fighter pilot. Almost all of the
original sounds that came with "European Air War" have been
replaced, providing you with the most realistic and stunning
sounds for all aircraft, weapons and many other things that
appear in the game. All of these sounds are professional
samples recorded with high-end studio equipment, unleashing
the bare power of those old prop-engines that spread their
eerie roar across the skies back in WWII, and when you pull
that trigger you will be more than happy to be sitting on the
right side of the guns, that is, behind them.

Training is over!

2. Installation

The installation routine from the previous v1.3 proved to be
the best sollution for all of you pilots out there. During the
installation process you will have the possibility to chose
which sounds you would like to install, so if for what reason
ever one or more sounds should not satisfy you, well, simply
leave 'em out! If this is the first time you're installing v2.0
you should install the complete package first to check out all
that is there. All sounds can be easily uninstalled by a simple
click, and the next time you install the SoundPack untick the
box next to the sound you did not like. The sim will automatically
use the default sound the next time you take to the skies!

During the installation process you will be promted to point
the installation to your "European Air War" directory.
I know it sounds stupid but make sure you do so, as otherwise
you will get an error message. As a frequent computer-user you
will agree that it is almost always those little things giving
us hard times...

After the installation you will notice some new files in your
"European Air War" directory. Please do not try to open those
files with your standard Windows Media Player as they might
get corrupted when the playback-device tries to close the file
again. This happened only once so far, but as the Media Player
can't read them anyway better don't tamper with them.

Uninstalling a MeatWater SoundPack is a piece of cake: simply
go to your software add/remove list, look for the SoundPack
entry and follow standard uninstallation procedures.
The SoundPack does not change anything on your system and can
be perfecly removed without leaving any traces.

3. Sound Setup

Don't be surprised if "European Air War" takes your shoes off the
first time you check it out. As I said, training is over, and you
are no more flying ultra lights with paintguns. You will most certainly
have to readjust your sound settings, most of you will have to turn
down the volume or bass a bit. Try different settings as great concern
has been taken to allow maximum power without clipping and other unwanted
noise. The sounds have been checked on a number of different sound systems
and headphones. It was one of the biggest challenges throughout the project
taking a lot of time and headaches, but in the end the results are...
hear for yourself!

You will also be a very welcome guest at the "Sound Archives"- section
of my website where - shortly after the release of v2.0 you will be
able to find various alternatives to the sounds that came with this
SoundPack.

NOTE 1: After installation there won't be any engine sounds in the
"view objects" section of "European Air War". This can't be fixed
as it is technically impossible to add both 8bit and 16bit sounds to the sim.

NOTE 2: Make sure you are using 16bit sounds! You won't be able to
hear any new sounds if you are using the 8bit setting. But why would
you want to do that anyway?

NOTE 3: Although announced, no menue-music has been added to v2.0 as
it would have increased the volume-size extremely. Instead, a "how-to"
instruction will be placed on the MeatWater-Website soon after the
release of v2.0 that will guide you through the process of adding a
tune of your choice to the main menue. As this is very easy, I don't
think that it would have been worth the immense increase of downloading
time (we are talking several MB!)
