"Sleepy Time Gal"HR

The skin contained with this this file is for the Hi-Res version of the B17G for the game European Air War.

This aircraft is the "Sleepy Time Gal" of the 532nd BS. The Sqadron was attached to the 381st Bomber Group.

The aircraft was the usual mount of Lt. Dave Morgan and his crew. Both the aircraft and crew survived the war. The skin is based on photos from around June/July 1944.

The name and Nose Art are from the Varga picture of the same name. This appears to be a popular choice for Bomber Nose Art as I've so far found some 4 B17s and 6 or so B24s that carried the same name and picture.

I've done two zips for the file, one with the required 3dzs, and 1 without.(For those who already have them) :)

Cedits:

Firstly to John "Chompy" Masters for allowing me to base my skin on his work. I freely admit to all that making a full skin from scratch is presently beyond me, so the bulk of the skin is his. I added the non glare panels, changed the markings, and generally played with it to add a bit more detail.

The 3dzs are Chompy's mods to Col. Gibbon's work. (Excerpt from Chompy's readme);

I have taken Col. Gibbon's superb .3dz's and modified them for use specifically with the pcx files in this zip file. Mainly some extra re-mapping of the textures, but also adding a non mirror panel for the LHS fuselage markings, modifying the tail to look more like a Cheyenne turret, adding the chin turret, a few extra guns, and some other details. I have also changed the pbb17c.3dz (noseart) so that only one texture is used. This provides higher resolution, but all the bombers look exactly the same.

So I'd better thank Col. Gibbon as well!

Also thanks to all at SimHq, EAW Forum for being a great bunch.:)
