A Curtiss P-40E, Kittyhawk I. By Geg
AK658 with 112 Squadron RAF in the Western Desert.
Flown by the O.C., Squadron Leader C.R. 'Killer' Caldwell (RAAF).
January 1942.
Caldwell left the Western desert in May 1942 as the allies top scoring 'ace'
credited with shooting down 20.5 enemy aircraft.
He received the grim epithet 'Killer' in recognition of his success in combat and a
tendency to return from operations with 'empty guns'.
