P-51C-10NT (NA.103) 42-103867 "SHIMMY III", flown by Lt Col Chester L Sluder, CO 325th Fighter Group, 15th Air Force.

Sluder commanded the 325th from 1 April to 23 August 1944. He used this aircraft as his mount when he led the first shuttle mission of the war, 'Operation Frantic Joe', on 2 June 1944. His force of 64 P-51s landed at Piryatin, in Russia, and returned five days later after flying one mission from the soviet base.

This P51C was developed from work that was done by George Lekko, aka "Geo", to heavily modify the old PAW Mustang 3dz. His generosity in offering to modify the 3dz files to allow for a EAW style prop and transparent canopy, led to further refinements, such as the non-mirror effect, fixture of single insignia, and correct drop tank/bomb placement. Cord did the shadow file for the P51, while Claudio made a different shadow file for the British Mustang III.

Geo's efforts and skill provided a base for Captain Kurt to works with to further complete the P51B shape. He added a new correct nose shape and spinner and changed the wing tips and rear deck shape slightly to more accurately capture the P51B's shape.

Claudio also helped here. He made the new medium distance model, which now has a spinner and clear canopy, and a new British Mustang III skin for it.

To use, just copy and paste all .3dz and .tpc files into the EAW main directory.

Enjoy
