This is my skin for the EXCELLENT quality F4U corsair made by GEO and originally skinned by Steve Day.
I must say, the wait was well worth it, this is one of the finest models and skins I have seen come out in HR for EAW!!

I have completely remade the top and sides for the skin, it would have just been too difficult to 'adjust' the original skin to suit.

Note: This skin has been converted by VonBeerhofen and then Col.Gibbon to be used in the SpitIX slot, specifically for PacTideII campaign use.

Also note that I have replaced the palette in the skin. I use Glide mode myself, and when I first ran the skin, it was quite a mess, all holey and invisible etc. I used the dayfade palette, but I read that it was a Gforce/tnt fix?? so, I don't really understand that part, but anyway, it worked for my glide system, but I changed the palette in order to try and get rid of the need for the extra (dayfade) palette.
I don't know what made me think I could succeed where Geo and Steve didn't, (just ignorance I guess LOL) But anyway, I haven't had any problems, and neither has anyone who tested for me in D3D???
If you DO have a problem with it, try adding in the original dayfade from Geo's/Steve's F4U. (In the folder "Palette fix for TNT Gforce.zip" included)

I really would suggest that you test run this skin 'without' the dayfade palette first, as there 'could' be some issues with it's use (the dayfade pal) clashing with some other skins.
Plus, you will know once and for all how your system likes the HR palette changes.

Also note: This release INCLUDES the latest undercarriage fix made by Chompy and by Me with Chompy holding my hand! lol.

about this skin:

Due to lack of support infrastructure in the outer Solomon islands where many of the RNZAF units were sent, they were not being supplied with anything but the most fundamental maintenance supplies, that DIDN'T include things like flooring, mosquitop nets or repellant, and paint for their AC.
As a result the exterior of the AC suffered from weathering and paintscratches and chips.

This is the F4U-1 of 25 Sqn RNZAF for the (original) P51D slot. Based on Los Negros Island, January 1945 - extremely weathered US Navy scheme of Non specular blue (fs35042) and semi gloss (fs25042) upper surfaces. Intermediate blue (fs35164) sides and lower outboard wing panels, and white (fs37880) lower surfaces. White tape covers the forward fuel tank seams and there was no tail hook on RNZAF Corsairs.

Special thanks must go to VonBeerhofen, Col.Gibbon and Chompy for the realtime help they gave with all of the different aspects of making these HR Corsairs available.
And, of course, to the original creators Steve and Geo!

Enjoy, any comments will reach me at the SimHQ BB.

Cheers

DeanH
