Skin by Damir Paul Fillen, developed from Kaptain Kurt's original skin for the Spanish Civil War. (see the read-me file down here):

Hope you will enjoy it.

here the Captain Curt's read-me file:

Grupo de Bombardeo 12 or 24
Spanish Republican Air Force 1936-38

I developed this 3DZ model for the upcoming Spanish Civil War campaign. I started with a Ki-45 model from earlier work done by Jamie Richards, Nathan Kell, Harry McWilliams and Musgrove. It was later painted to sort of resemble an SB-2. Even so, Jamie Richard's skin was too nice to discard so I adapted it as necessary to fit the new model. All three skins I fixed for it are in one way or another using Jamie's skins as a base. For this particular one I painted a new mottled upper surface, but it still uses the lower surfaces of the original skin.

The 3DZ model is essentially a new aircraft because of the extensive work it required, and I also developed a new mid distance model for it as well. Use it in the Mosquito slot with Charles Gunst's ECAPanel.

Cheers,

Captain Kurt

The following is from the original read-me/

The SB prototype flew with a pair of imported, 730-hp Wright Cyclone air-cooled radial engines. But these soon gave way to 760-hp Hispano-Suiza HS12Ybrs liquid-cooled V12s and their license-built derivatives, Klimov M.100s. Production SB-2M-100s had prominent, car-type radiators and two-bladed, adjustable-pitch propellors.

The propellor hubs featured prominent dogs for the truck-driven Hucks starters used by the Red air forces. Exhaust pipes and hot radiator air exited the cowling via a neat slot just aft of the leading edge of the wing. Four wing tanks could hold up to 417 gallons of fuel, but only the inner, 90-gallon tanks were filled in normal service. Four to six 220-lb FAB-100 bombs could be carried nose-up in the internal bomb bay. Fixed, non-retractable skis could be fitted for winter operation.

Defensive armament was in some respects well ahead of the state of the art at the time. The mountings showed little improvement over those of the First World War. Two 7.62-mm achineguns fired from vertical slots in the glazed nose. Traverse was very limited. Another ShKAS fired from a ring and post mounting under the sliding canopy of the rear cockpit.
A fourth gun was mounted in a hatch in the lower rear fuselage. But the ShKAS machinegun itself was an extraordinary weapon developed especially for aircraft use. Using a special 7.62-mm cartridge, each gun could fire 1800 rounds per minute at a time when most foreign weapons fired 500-800 rpm.

The improved, SB-2M-100A model received uprated, 860-hp M-100A engines and three-bladed propellors with spinners and Hucks dogs, but was otherwise externally similar to the SB-2M-100. The bomb bay could now carry a horizontally stowed 1100-lb FAB-500. External racks could accomodate an aditional 660 lbs of bombs under the wing roots.

Readme - original skin

By Jamie Richards, Harry McWilliams, and Nathan Kell

A Kawasaki Ki-45 Toryu "Nick" based on the Bf110g skin, but for use in place of the Bf110c. Please ignore the headless tail gunner! Removing the poor man's noggin was the only way to position the pilot far enough forward in the cockpit to be visible. C'est la vie!

The 3D shape of this aircraft has been modified to better reflect that of a Ki-45 (radial engines and a single rudder) instead of a Bf110c (in-line engines and twin rudders).

For use with Charles Gunst's ECA (Enemy Coast Ahead) Control Panel.
To install, just unzip the *.TPC and *.3DZ files into your EAW directory.
