"Lou IV" P51D mustang files for European Air War by Microprose,
or Chompy's re-hash of Salty's brilliant P-51D. 21/08/2001

This all started as a spontaneous thought that I could recreate a famous photo of
four P-51's - a late D, two early D's and a razorback B model flying in tight formation.
Salty had already done a brilliant job of the first mustang required, so I set about
changing his pcx and 3dz files into an early model D without the extra rudder fin,
and with the neccesary yellow nose. I haven't made the nose art reversible, but the
squadron codes and tail number are.
My next challenge is to make the required P51B, and somehow get all these machines
flying in a lovely tight formation, and get the right camera angle. After many attempts,
many rolls of film, and many incinerated mustangs, my results are still less than spectacular. If you have any ideas on the best way to do it, or you just want to tell me
that my skinning sucks, feel free to email me!

Finally, a huge thankyou is owed to Salty and Cord, for making such a great skin.
I needed a good base to build from, and I shamelessly took the best example I could find. Also thanks to JWC for the use of his wide view armour for the cockpit.
Top notch stuff, fellas!!

P51D 375FG 361FS Version 2.0
============================

This P51D is from the 375th FS, 361st FG of the Eight AAF, around June, 1944.
This AC was briefly flown by 1st lt. Urban Drew, third ranking Ace of the group.
Lt . Drew normal AC was a P51D named "Detroit Miss". This AC has been hastily camoflaged
with OD paint in anticipation of being deployed to a forward field in France after D Day.
This AC was later assigned to Lt. Abe Rosenberger.

This is a revision based on 3d modifications by Cord Hartmann. His skill has made it
possible to have a truely great skin. I am very much indebted to Cord for his work and
talent, without which this revision would not be possible. Thanks Cord for the
collaboration.
