Pengie IV was a P-47 D 28-RE, Sn 4419718, from the 61st FS, 56th FG, based at Boxted, flown by Capt. Boleslaw "Mike" Gladych. Gladych was a polish pilot who flew for the RAF, but fell out of favour with High Command after he almost mistakenly shot down the aircraft carrying Winston Churchill. Francis Gabreski offered him a spot in the newly formed 56th FG, and there he stayed until the end of the war, flying 5 different P-47 "Pengie"'s, and being credited with 10 kills with the 56th, as well as 8 with RAF 302 and 303 Sqn.

High Resolution P-47 D 25 for European Air War.

AT last it's finished! I've given the standard EAW P-47 D the HR treatment, and hopefully it comes up to your expectations. The previous EAW P-47 was a later M version with the extended rudder fin, while this one has been totally re-mapped to accurate (They'd better be!) line drawings of a P-47 D 25 RE, and the shape has been adjusted to suit. Apart from going Hi-res with total non mirroring, the mods to the standard 3dz are: -
- Landing gear has been re-worked for better gear door detail and open wheel bays.
- Cockpit has been reshaped, using the Tempest cockpit as a starting point.
- Nose has been reshaped to try and give a more rounded, eliptical look.
- Tail/fuselage/wing shape has been modified to represent the P-47 D 25 a bit better.
- Turbo/supercharger fairing added.
- Illu type radio wire.
- Gunst type transparent shadow.
- Damaged TOW FX added.
- Hires non mirrored wingview to suit the new wingshape.

This aircraft has had substantial modifications to most of the 3dz's, so here's the file list for anyone who's interested.

CREDITS.
Thanks and big pats on the back go to :-
- Dean H for helping me with his skinning expertise, for ideas on the shape, for his constant enthusiasm, and for his positive and happy outlook on the project and life in general. It's been a pleasure doing business with you Dean!
- Col Gibbon for providing the idea of using line drawings for the mapping and shaping of the aircraft. Hopefully I got it close!
- Salty for providing the line drawings,
- Salty for suggesting that I look at using the Typhoon cockpit,
- Winger69 and Serb for the starting 3dz (though it looks somewhat different now!)

As always, there are a few RS bugs and things that I am currently unable to fix. My apologies for that. If you have any comments, problems, hate-mail etc, don't hesitate to contact me.

'til then, Enjoy!
