A6M3 'Hamp' Zero.

The existence of the Hamp became known when a B17, flying at 28,00 feet above New Guinea, when on a daylight raid, in September 1942, was attacked by what was described as a clipped wing Zero. By June 1943 parts from 5 crashed planes had been sent to Australia and one flyable plane had been made from the various parts, and flown to the US for evaluation. These planes were based at Lea, Buna, Munda, and Rabaul. This example of the Hamp, is made from a model made by Greg Springer, as shown in green camo.
