This Mustang MkIA represents an aircraft of No.268 Squadron, Plumetot, Normandy, during July 1944. No. 268 Squadron consisted of Tactical Recon aircraft and were only painted with invasion stripes on the bottom of the aircraft. In spite of this, these Tac/R Suadrons suffered the highest losses of all RAF units in the month following D-Day, mostly due to German ground fire. No.268 Suadron was one of the first RAF Sqns to move across the channel to Frane after D-Day. The squadron operated Mustangs until October 1944, starting re-equipment with Typhoon FR.IB's in September of that year. Although 268 Squn kept some Mustangs until 1945, these were suplemented with Typhoons. The unit converted to Spitfire XIV's in April 1945.

This skin makes use of the 3d editing talents of George Lekko and Claudio Wilches. George is responsible for modifying the PAW skin to bring it up to EAW standards and for giving it the 4 20mm cannon. Claudio is responsible for the cockpit wingview that allows the RAF style camoflage to be possible. Without either of these two Gentlemen, this skin would not be possible. My thanks to both of them for making this possible.

This modification is to be used in conjunction with Charles Gunst ECA panel 3.3 and higher. Be sure to use the Mustang Mk IA setting in order to have the proper RAF communications in-game. Another important point: be sure to use the Pp51btra.tpc file that comes with this modification. It has been modified to allow the RAF roundels to show on both wings. Also be sure to delete this file when changing skins or the new image will not be displayed properly. You must also use the Pmustv.tpc file to get the correct cockpit wing view, (along with the usual cockpit files, Pp51bv.tpc, Pp51bx.tpc, and Pp51bvtr.tpc). When changing to a new skin, simply delete these files prior to loading the new files to avoid image display problems.

Enjoy!
