This program allows the user to load and unload different
campaigns for Microprose's EAW.

A huge heaping of thanks goes to several people:

Charles Gunst (GGE*), for putting up with a number of frantic emails and providing clear answers to end my confusion on the restore process. (It's his list of ECA 1.4 files at the end of this read me.)

Sneaky and Mus, who developed a great set of batch files for moving these files originally and whose encouragemnet kep me going.

Installation:

1) Unzip the files to your desktop to a folder named "Campaigns".

IMPORTANT: Make sure that "Use folder names" is checked when you extract.

2) Copy (or move) the folder "Campaigns" to your EAW folder

3) Go the Campaigns folder and make a shortcut to the exe there (campaignmover.exe)

or if you are are using Stab, configure this as an external application (see Stab Directions for further info)

4) Make sure that all loaded campaigns are removed from your EAW folder before you use this program for the first time.

That's it!!!!!!

Use of the program:

A) to install a campaign:

Run the program, select the campaign you wish to load by clicking on it's name in the "Campaigns Available" box.

Press the "Load Selected Campaign" Button and then press "OK" when the "Campaign Loaded" Message appears.

Press the "Exit Button" to exit the program.

B) to unload an installed campaign:

Run the program, select the campaign you wish to unload by clicking on it's name in the "Campaigns Available" box.

Press the "Unload Selected Campaign" Button and then press "OK" when the "Campaign Unloaded" Message appears.

Press the "Exit Button" to exit the program.

Please Note: If you have ECA 1.4 installed, to return to the original ECA files after unloading a campaign, you must re-select the campaign you just unloaded, then press the "Restore ECA" button. Since each campaign uses different files modified from the ECA originals, the program needs to know which campaign you are restoring from.

Installing a new campaign:

To install a new campaign several adjustments need to be made. Hopefully, in time, campaign developers will handle most of these details themselves.

1) The data files that will be moved into EAW MUST be contained in a folder named CAMxxxxx, where xxxxx is the name of the campaign. The folder MUST contain only the files to be moved, NOTHING ELSE.

2) The readme text file that comes with the campaign MUST be moved to the top level ReadMe folder. If need be, rename that file can be renamed with the campaign name for easy access.

3) There MUST be a shortened version of the read me file containing a brief description of the campaign, it author and date. This file MUST be named xxxYYYYY, where YYYYY is the campaign name used with the data folder (the file MUST start with three lowercase x's). This file MUST be placed in the Workfiles folder.

4) There MUST be a jpg file available in the Workfiles folder to be used as a graphic for the campaign to be installed. The file MUST be named XXXXX.jpg, where XXXXX is the name of the campaign.

5) There MUST be a file placed in the Workfiles folder named resXXXX.txt. This file MUST contain the names of the ECA files to be restored. To find those files, use the following process:

Look at the campaign read me file and find the list of files for that campaign. Below is a list of "original" ECA files. Note all files that match. Open notebook and type in each file name as it appears, including extention, one
file name to a line (Spelling Counts!!). Then place that file in the Workfiles folder. Once that is done, then look at the files in the ECARestore folder. If any files on your list are not in that folder, a copy of the original, unmodified ECA file MUST be placed in the ECARestore folder.

Now, I know that this all may seem complex, but it is not. Take your time and follow the instructions and all should work out. As I said, if campaign developers will modify how they pacakge thier campaigns to follow these rules, then installing a new campaign will, for the player be simply a matter of putting the new files/folder in the right place.

Notes:

The Campaign files bundled with version 1.5 are the work of the following:

FRANCE40 Charles Gunst
NEW GUINEA RockHPI
GUADALCANAL Dirk 'Emil' Schoorens
MEDITERRANEAN Dirk 'Emil' Schoorens
CAUCAUS42 Dirk 'Emil' Schoorens (as of 7/16/00)

For details on each campaign, please see that campaign's "ReadMe" text file.

Some players have experienced problems with my FrontLine Mover due to a missing dll, specifically msvbvm60.dll. This file is available from several sites on the net (just do a net search of "dll"). If you have installed this dll prior to installing Campaign Mover (say you already have FrontLine Mover in place, dude!) you need not install it again.

Please enjoy and feedback is always welcome.

This add-on may be placed and made available by any web host as long as proper credit is given for both the application and the campaign files (also a few words of praise would be nice too).
