1941 MEDITERRANEAN CAMPAIGN

ECA Panel 3.2 compatible addon for EUROPEAN AIR WAR - Microprose

The 1941 Mediterranean Campaign replaces the Battle of Britain Campaign with one starting
in April of 1941, when Rommel and the German Africa Corps land in Tripoli. The aim of
this campaign is to simulate the air and air to ground war in the Mediterranean and North
Africa between German and British air forces. There are no American air forces simulated.

The Mediterranean Campaign is a modified 1940 campaign, with different aircraft and
upgrades. It starts in April-June 1941 and ends in Oktober-November 1942, when
Operation Torch starts and the Americans enter the Mediterranean war. In a normal campaign
you fly a mission every 10 days, if you choose a long campaign be prepared to fly a mission
every 5 days for a total of 120 sorties.

As in reality all German and British aircraft will participate in a significant number of
air to ground bombing and interdiction attacks. Ofcourse also a significant number of sweep,
escort and intercept missions will be flown. Among the ground targets are for both sides :
airfields, radar towers, radar stations, convoys, trucks, trains, warehouses, fuel dumps,...

This Mediterranean Campaign is not 100% historically correct, but it is certainly more
historically correct to play than a Battle of Brittain or 1943-1944 campaign of the original
EAW with desert terrain and desert aircraft skins applied.

When you play this campaign DO NOT select Limited Supply or you may not have bombs to carry.
I would like to quote Charles Gunst on this : "Did you join up to be a fighter pilot or
a supply clerk anyway?" :)

Use ECA Control Panel v3.1 to select the North African aircraft. Do this by using "Global
Changes"/"North African" AND by individually selecting the various aircraft options as
follows:

Hurricane:	Hurricane IIc
Spitfire I:	Spitfire IIb
Spitfire IX:	Spitfire Vb
Typhoon:	Tomahawk Ia
Tempest:	Kittyhawk II
Mosquito:	Beaufighter IF
P47C: F4F-3 Wildcat or in later ECA panel versions maybe Martlet III
B26: B26 or B25 (RAF), the Blenheim I will be selectable from ECA Panel 3.3
Bf109E: Bf109E8
Bf109G: Bf109F4
Bf110C: Bf110F1
Me410: Me210A1
Ju87B: Ju87D7
Ju88A: Ju88A

The Martlet Mk. III isn't available in ECA panel 3.1 but it is the same aircraft
as the F4F-3 Wildcat with non-folding wings that the British purchased through Lend-Lease.

The Bristol Blenheim Mk. I bomber isn't available in ECA panel 3.2, maybe it will be in
future versions. In the meantime choose the B-26 Marauder or the B-25 Mitchell (RAF).

INSTALLATION AND USAGE INSTRUCTIONS

To use this addon you need to have an install of EAW patched to version 1.2 level.
Enemy Coast Ahead 1.4 and ECA panel 3.2 need to be installed.

FIRST : select the North Africa planes and place names with ECA Panel as described above.

SECOND : to install just copy the following files that come with this Med1941b.zip file into
your EAW directory :

AIRFIELD.DAT : made by Dominique Legrand
BRIEFING.STR
CAMPGR40.DAT
CAMPUK40.DAT
CARQUOTE.STR
FRNTLINE.DAT : this is Frontline #10 made by Dominique Legrand
LOADOUT.DAT
MISN40.DAT
PNAMES.STR
SQDESCGR.STR
SQDESCUK.STR
SQGR40.DAT
SQNAMEGR.STR
SQNAMEUK.STR

THIRD : DO NOT REOPEN ECA PANEL TO CHANGE HOMEBASE OR PLANES AFTER YOU COPIED THE CAMPAIGN FILES
INTO YOUR EAW DIRECTORY. IF YOU REOPEN ECA PANEL SOME CAMPAIGN FILES AND OTHER SELECTIONS WILL BE
OVERWRITTEN AND THE CAMPAIGN WILL NOT FUNCTION AS IT SHOULD.

IF YOU WANT TO MANAGE YOUR SQUADRON DO NOT USE ECA PANEL, BUT USE CHARLES GUNST'S FIRST UTILITY
EAW PILOT THAT YOU CAN DOWNLOAD FROM AIRBUDDHA'S HANGAR.

To uninstall this addon delete all the above mentioned files from your EAW directory and
reinstall the following files of Enemy Coast Ahead 1.4 :

LOADOUT.DAT
