          * Supported image types of footages:
             1. BMP(non-compressed),
             2. JPEG(or JPG),

	  1) Open the "eaw.ini" file in the EAW main folder by using any text editor
	  2) Scroll down and find the line that says "ScreenCapture="
(In most of case the line says "ScreenCapture=RMENU". RMENU means [PrintScrn] key )
	  3) Type your preferable key name as CAPITAL LETTERS in the line

	     example: ScreenCapture=C (for "c" key)
                            ScreenCapture=INSERT (for "insert" key)

3.9 Tips for using external screencapture programs to capture screenshots in the game
If you press the [PrintScrn] key during the game, Window will generates screenshot images into
EAW main folder. The file name of screenshots is like SCRN0000.BMP, SCRN0001.BMP, ...

When the LOGBOOK application updates a logbook after finishing a mission, it will try to find
the "SCRN0000.BMP[JPG, GIF, JPEG, or another format type defind by user ]" file in the EAW main folder.
If the SCRN0000.XXX file is found in the EAW main folder, the LOGBOOK application will performs
the work of adding screenshots into a logbook. After adding the SCRN0000.XXX,
the LOGBOOK application trys to find the next image name, SCRN0001.XXX again.
Here, the meaning of XXX of SCRN0000.XXX is one among BMP, JPG, GIF, JPEG, or another format type defind by user.

Another format type defind by user is the value says ExtraCaptureImageType=XXX in the "logbook.ini" file.
However, the LOGBOOK application support only three types, BMP, JPG(JPEG), GIF.
Thus, the images having another format type defind by user can't be shown in the the LOGBOOK application.
To see another format type's image in the LOGBOOK application, you should convert the image's format into
supported image's formats(BMP, JPG(JPEG), GIF) by using a graphic application such as PaintShop.

According to the fact above, you can use other external screenshot applications such as HyperSnap or Screen Recoder, etc.
HyperSnap provides a automatic screen capture function along with many options, so you don't need to press the [PrintScrn] key to
capture screenshots each time. By using it, screenshot images immediately can be saved various image types.
The Screen Recoder program is simple and powerful utility to capture screenshots. It also provides a automatic
screen capture function. It only generates TGA format images as screenshots.

	 HyperSnap : http://www.hyperionics.com/index.html
	 Screen Recoder: http://www.heyne-multimedia.de/nfs/

         When you use external screenshot applications, following setting are required;
              (1) Directory for saving screenshots must be EAW main directory.
              (2) The file name of screenshots must be as like SCRNOOOO.XXX.
                  (for example: scrn0000.bmp, scrn0000.jpg, scrn0000.tga, etc.)

3.10 Supporting any display resolution (incomplete)
LOGBOOK was re-designed to support any display resolution for displaying screen-fitted window.
However, this feature of supporting any display resolution is not completed.
(The Logbook application have been developed on both Windows 2000(mainly coding & testing) and Windows 98(mainly, final testing).
This feature works well on Windows 2000, but it cause the performance of the Logbook application to slow
         on Windows 98.)

If you want to turn on this feature,
              1) Open the "logbook.ini" file by using any text editor
              2) Find the line that says "AdjustWindowSize=0"
              3) Replace 0 with 1

	     * Testing display resolution(on Windows 98, Voodoo3 2000):
	        800x600(good)
	        960x720(slugggish)
	        1024x768(more slugggish)

      3.11 Compress footages
Large size of screenshot cause Logbook to operate slowly when viewing footages.
In "LOGBOOK" menu, you can compress captured BMP format files into JPEG format files.

             1) Run LOGBOOK
             2) Click "LOGBOOK" menu
             3) Click the left mouse button over a remark area on logbook image
             4) Click the right mouse button over a comment image or a footage image
             5) Click Compress in pop-menu
             6) Click "OK" button after setting your preferable compress option(see below) in the option window

          Details of compress options:
-quality N Scale quantization tables to adjust image quality.
Quality is 0 (worst) to 100 (best); default is 75.

-grayscale Create monochrome JPEG file from color input.
Be sure to use this switch when compressing a grayscale
BMP file, because cjpeg isn't bright enough to notice
whether a BMP file uses only shades of gray. By
saying -grayscale, you'll get a smaller JPEG file that
                              takes less time to process.

-optimize Perform optimization of entropy encoding parameters.
Without this, default encoding parameters are used.
-optimize usually makes the JPEG file a little smaller,
but cjpeg runs somewhat slower and needs much more
memory. Image quality and speed of decompression are
                              unaffected by -optimize.

-progressive Create progressive JPEG file. In this type of JPEG file,
the data is stored in multiple scans of increasing quality. If the
file is being transmitted over a slow communications link, the decoder can use
the first scan to display a low-quality image very quickly, and can then
improve the display with each subsequent scan. The final image is exactly
equivalent to a standard JPEG file of the same quality setting, and the total
file size is about the same --- often a little smaller.

The Logbook application uses a external compress utility, CJPEG.EXE,
to compress and convert screeshots(BMP format).
You can obtain the whole package of CJPEG from the SimTel archives
         (ftp://ftp.simtel.net/pub/simtelnet/msdos/graphics/).
Or You can use your preferable graphic editor to compress and edit all images.

3.12 Configurable values in the "logbook.ini" file
You can change the following configurable values in the "logbook.ini" file by using any text editor.
To change the values, first, exit the Logbook application, and then edit the "logbook.ini" file and
          restart the "logbook.exe" file.

         1) ScanTime=35(default, seconds) : the time of scanning career files for automatic logbook update(30 ~ 3600(1Hr))
         2) StartMusic=0 or 1(default) : whether or not playing start music (0: OFF 1: ON)
         3) AdjustWindowSize=0(default) or 1 : whether or not turning on the feature of supporting any display resolution (incomplete)
         4) ExtraCaptureImageType=TGA(default) : extra captured images type
         5) LoadOnStart=0 or 1(default) : whether or not execute screenrec.exe at starting
         6) AutoReLoad=0 or 1(default) : whether or not re-execute screenrec.exe automatically after a logbook update
It is necessary to re-execute the screenrec.exe for generating screenshots name starting
                                                                 with SCRN0000.tga

3.13 Using "Screen Recoder" for capturing screenshots
You can download the Screen Recoder at http://www.heyne-multimedia.de/nfs/
It is small, but simple and powerful program.

               1) Extract the zip file to your Logbook installation folder
               2) Edit the "screenrec.ini" file as your preference.
                    ex) FILENAME=D:\Games\European Air War\SCRN
               3) Confirm if the LoadOnStart, AutoReLoad value is 1(default) in the "logbook.ini" file by using any
                    text editor

It generates "TGA" format screenshots. So after a logbook update, you need to use the "Compress" command
to convert TGA images into JPG.

8.0 FAQ & Troubleshooting Tip

  8.1 FAQ

    1) Different points between LOGBOOK and EAW (mission debriefing screen)
There are two kinds of points in the EAW. One is individual points, and the other is
       average mission result points.
Each pilot's individual points after finishing a mission are saved in career files as
seperate data fields at each pilot's information area. Gamers can see the total summation
of these points of gamer pilots in "HALL OF FAME" menu in EAW or in the last mission
debriefing screen when gamer finish all the missions of his career.
The other points are seen in a mission debriefing screen after finising a mission.
It seem to be not saved in career files(I tried to find the data field area of these
points in career files and failed) The meaning of these points seem to be a comprehensive
mission results and reflect other elements, for example, kills / losses of gamer and
other pilots in his squadron , etc. But I'm not sure that this assumtion is right.
However, it is true that each pilot's individual points are saved in career files.

    2) Why is not logbooks updated after finishing the last mission of a career?
A logbook update of LOGBOOK application is based on change of data in career files.
The career file contains each pilots' information at each data area.
However, EAW doesn't generate the result of the last mission of a career into a career file.
EAW also doesn't show the last mission result in its logbook menu.

    3) What does "Squadron Total Losses" in "SQUADRON BOARD" menu mean?
It is not the number of lost pilots, but the number of lost aircrafts.
"LOGBOOK" menu show the "losses" field, which is the accumulative number of each pilot's lost
aircrafts or the accumulative number of the successful bail-out. "Squadron Total Losses" is the
accumulative number of all pilots' lost aircrafts from the begining to the present

    4) How to get the window choosing the EAW main folder
Simply, delete the "logbook.ini" file in the logbook's installation folder and restart LOGBOOK.exe.
The Logbook application will generate the "logbook.ini" file with default setting.
If you want to change the EAW main folder path, open the "logbook.ini" file with any text editor
and edit the line that says "EawDir=".
For useful tips, each logbook folder has the "loginfo.dat" that contains its own information.
The "career file = " line in the "loginfo.dat" file mean the directory path containing itself.
The "EawDir=" value in the "logbook.ini" file is initialized with the directory path of the
"career file = " line after selecting a squadron in the "SELECT SQUADRON" menu each time.

  8.2 Troubleshooting

    1) No work of automatic logbook update (VERSION 2.0 ONLY)
Make sure that "LOGBOOK.INI" file has correct EAW savedata folder.
Open it by text editor, and check it. It must contain EAW savedata folder (containg
       careerxx.sve) name as follow:
              ex) c:\European Air War\savedata
