Macchi C.200 Saetta

363a Squadriglia (150 Gruppo Autonomo C.T.), Martuba, April 1942.

*NOTE* This plane is ONLY for use with either Desert Air War or Emil's Malta campaign, as both use the PP51D slot for the C.200 and not ECA Panel's 190A. If you want to use it for ECA Panel, you will have to either hex edit the files manually or use Snapshot. Place all files in your main EAW folder. That's it.

This C.200 has the post-1941 tropical hues scheme, which became the new standard. Black wing insignia on clear background with red and black unit codes. Tail shows typical Breda style cross. Near the fuselage band, the group badge represented three eagles on a desert scenery, with the motto "Gigi tre Osei" ("Three Birds" Luigi). This badge, painted on planes after the death of Sottotenente Luigi Caneppele occurred on 2 February in a flight accident, was directly inspired from his glider pilot badge, displaying indeed three eagles.

After the Balkans campaign, 150 Gruppo led by Maggiore Vizzotto was stationed in Cyrenaica early in 1942, operating since 13 February at Martuba and from mid May at Benghazi. North African operations of the group ended when it returned to Ciampino in November.
