Fiat CR.32, MM.4666 160a Squadriglia ( 12 Gruppo, 50 Stormo Assalto)
Libya, June 1940

This plane took part in the Italian advance on Sidi Barrani in June 1940. Though being an outstanding excellent and modern fighter at its time in the 30s - the tremendous success of this plane misled the Italians to favour the bi-plane concept - the Fiat CR.32 (Designer Celestino Rosatelli = CR) was hopelessly obsolete even at the beginning of the Italian offensive. Regarding the weakened British forces in Egypt as an easy prey, Mussolini was defeaterd in December 40/January 41, when Wavells 30.000 drove out Grazianis troops from Egypt and the Cyrenaica. Germanys answer was fast - Rommel appeared. The CR.32 disappeared from the stage and was replaced by new Fiat G.50 Freccia fighters.

I only brought the markings and painting up to Regia Aeronautica standards. I used Karel Chvojkas SCW "Chirri" and added Italian "fasci" emblems, the Savoia cross and the individual Italian markings of the 160th squadron. I was able to cope with some of the 3dz warping effects by repositioning the wing markings, but unfortunately not every twisted marking could be eliminated :-(

ROtton50 provided a new cockpit 3dz-file to get rid of blocky props. Thx a lot!

Have fun!
