FIAT G.55 "Centauro" Serie 1, "Yellow 5" of 2 Gruppo 2a Squadriglia "Diavoli Rossi" (Red Devils), Aviazione Nazionale Repubblicana,
based at Cascina Vaga (Province of Pavia) May 1944

The 1944 german grey-tone camouflage system RLM 74/75/76 and yellow engine lower sides were applied over the Italian "verde oliva scuro" (dark olive green) for uniformity purposes and as protection against friendly fire by Axis AA units. The original colour is still visible around the squadrons badge as an olive circle which was masked during painting. Upper and lower wing markings omit the white colour for low-visibility purposes. This unit adopted a German-style numbering system.
