Fiat G.55 "Centauro", Serie 1, 1a Squadriglia II Gruppo Caccia "Gigi Tre Osei" (Louie with three birds), "black 7", flown by Capitano Ugo Drago, Aviazione Nazionale Repubblicana,
based at Cascina Vaga (Province of Padua) April/May 1944

The gruppo was raised at Bresso (Province of Milan) in March 1944, these aircraft being painted in a Luftwaffe-inspired experimental splinter camouflage and yellow engine lower sides being applied over the Italian "verde oliva scuro" (dark olive green) before finally adapting an entirely German greytone camo system. This unit also kept an Italian numbering system prior to adopting the shown German tactical markings.
