Hello, Winamp is a great utility for listening to MP3's and it is free. Let
me get a link for you, then I will explain how to convert MP3's to wav files
using it

http://www.winamp.com/download/

To use CDEX, read the 'cdexreadme' file.

Ok, once you have it installed it is quite easy to make wav files. First
make a folder you will tell the wav files to be put in. Next, open up the
program. Now, you will have the Black box that contains 3 parts, although
it looks like one. There will be WInamp on top, then the Equalizer below,
and below that the Playlist, which is a blank area. Open up the folder
which contains the mp3 (or mp3's) you want and drag them into the blank box.
This will create a play list. You can change the play list by clicking on
the name and dragging it up or down to the desired spot. Now, make sure
repeat play is OFF, otherwise it will continually make wav files, you will
find this just above the word "Equalizer", it is a half circled arrow.
Next, you will see at the absolute top left corner of this winamp
display a little symbol that looks like an S or figure 8. (you can also
right click on the winamp portion of the display). Next go down to options,
then preferences. Another window should come up that says "Setup, Options,
Plug-in, etc" In the Plug-in area click on the output. 4 options should
come up:
Nullsoft waveOut plug-in v2.3 [OUT.WAVE.DLL]
Nullsoft WMA Output plug-in v0.90
***Nullsoft Disk Writer plug-in 1.0***
That is the one you want. Double click on it and then it will ask you to
designate a folder for the wav files to be placed in, then choose the one
you made before. Now, all you do is make sure the Equalizers are where you
want them (it does effect the recording) then hit play when you are ready.
It will go through the list real fast. When it is done, go back into the
preference area and Plug in area, then double click the first of those
"nullsoft" options I listen, and now you can play MP3's again. Ok, now all
you have to do is go to that folder where u told it to put the wav files,
and bingo, there they are. It should be noted I may not have the most
recent version, but the principles are the same, hopefully little was
changed.
