EUROPEAN AIR WAR
EMIL'S BATTLE OF BRITAIN
POLISH WINGMEN SPEECH PACK
READ ME

In summer and fall of 1940 143 Polish fighter pilots took part in the Battle of Britain. They served in two
Polish squadrons - 302 City of Poznan and 303 Warsaw - Kosciuszko (the best Sqn of BoB - 126 1/2 kills)
and in many British squadrons i.e. 32, 56, 74, 145, 213, 234, 238, 257, 501, 609 and many more. 31 of
them were killed (in combat and plane accidents) but Germans had to pay heavily for their death - Poles
shoot down 203 German planes for sure, probably 35 and damaged 36 (W. Krol "Wielka Brytania 1940"
Warszawa 1990).
During BoB British pilots served in Polish squadrons among the Poles (3 in 303, 5 in 302). They were
British squadron leaders and flight commanders. The Poles entered combat just few months after arrival
to Great Britain (the first groups arrived in December 1939). They had too little time to learn the language.
This speech pack was designed to give the EAW players the opportunity to feel this situation. This pack
was meant for non-Polish speaking players but Polish players may also have a lot of fun using it. The
squadron leader and player are always British - all others are/may be Poles.

Installation
This pack may be installed in three ways:
1. You may have all pilots Poles - only Sqn leader and player (You) are British.
Unpack zip file to a temporary folder and run uk4&uk5.bat file (inside the same directory). This operation
will give you all voices Polish - best suitable for Polish squadrons campaigns. Than drop all uk3*.snd,
uk4*.snd and uk5*.snd files to your EAW directory and You are done.
2. You may have only some voices Polish - situation in British RAF squadrons.
Unzip archive file to temporary directory and DO NOT run bat file. Copy all uk3*.snd files to Your EAW
directory.
3. You may choose only some Polish voices to be audible in game.
Unzip archive file to temporary directory and copy only selected snd files to Your EAW directory. The full
list of files (with English meaning) may be found in filelist.txt in this pack zip.

HAVE FUN

Attention
Unfortunately this pack contains only one voice. In future, I hope, it will be possible to record other
Polish voices. Then these new files will be added to Polish Speech Pack. So check simhq.com EAW
forum for news.

Warning
1. This pack contains some rude (not nowadays but in 40s) Polish words - not suitable for players under
18 ;-).
2. This pack contains insulting designations of German enemies. It was not my purpose to offence our
German mates. Sorry guys, but I wanted to make this pack as historically accurate as possible.
