JAPANESE SPEECH PACK (Version 1.0)
By James Richards
Featuring the voice of Dr. Yusuke Marikawa

This is an add-on module for Microprose's "European Air War", specifically for use in conjunction with Charles Gunst's "Enemy Coast Ahead" Control Panel.

This Japanese Speech Pack replaces the German radio transmissions of the ground controllers, bombers, and fighters with Japanese. The mission briefings remain unchanged. The in-flight subtitles and radio transmission menu are also changed to fit the Japanese speech. As well, the ranks of the pilots are changed from German to the Japanese equivalents (given in English).

To install, simply copy all *.SND and *.STR files into your EAW directory (i.e., the directory containing EAW.EXE). This comprises a total of 878 SND files plus 6 STR files. To uninstall, just delete these same files. Be careful, however, not to delete all SND and STR files, since files with these extensions are used by other add-ons such as Charles Gunst's ECA Control Panel and MeatWater's Sound Pack.

The 885 files comprising this add-on module are as follows:

README.TXT --> This file!

GE1_0##.SND --> These are the sound files for the ground controller.

GE2_0##.SND --> These are the sound files for the bomber pilot.

GE3_###.SND --> These are the sound files for the three different
GE4_###.SND wingmen.
GE5_###.SND

STGEV1.STR --> This contains subtitles for the ground controller.
STGEV2.STR --> This contains subtitles for the bomber pilot.
STGEV3.STR --> This contains subtitles for the wingmen.

GRANKL.STR --> This contains ranks for fighter pilots.
GRANKS.STR --> This contains ranks for fighter pilots (in short form).

RADIOTXT.STR --> This is the text for the radio transmission menu.

NOTE: RADIOTXT.STR is a file that is deleted, extracted afresh and
edited by ECA Control Panel (to change the in-flight string about gun
calibres). This means that every time you switch aircraft using ECA Panel, the RADIOTXT.STR contained in this Japanese Radio Pack is obliterated. So, if you want to make sure that you have the Japanese version installed, you should reinstall this one file after each time you switch any aircraft using ECA Control Panel.

The files in this add-on module are freeware and can be freely distributed. I do ask, however, that this README file always be distributed as part of the package.

MicroProse does not officially support third-party add-ons, such as this, to European Air War. If you experience problems with this add-on, contact me, not MicroProse.

Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments.
