This P51B represents the mount of Capt. Willard Millikan, "Missouri Mauler", 336 FS, 4th FG, 8th AAF, based at Duxford, England, during May 1944. Capt. Millikan was credited with 13 aircraft shot down. Records state that on May 30, 1944, Capt. Millikan's Wingman collided with him after being hit by flak. Both pilots bailed out to become POWs. Capt. Millikan later escaped but not in time to return to operations. This aircraft shows D Day invasion stripes. It is not known whether this is a correct scheme or not, in as much as most units did not put invasion stripes on their aircraft until the eve of D Day. I have chosen to leave the stripes on because I like the look, and I was too lazy to change it after Major Lee brought this discrepancy to my attention. My apologies to Major Lee!

This P51B model was developed from work that was done by George Lekko, aka "Geo", to heavily modify the old PAW Mustang 3dz. His generosity in offering to modify the 3dz files to allow for a EAW style prop and transparent canopy, led to further refinements, such as the non-mirror effect, fixture of single insignia, and correct drop tank/bomb placement. Cord did the shadow file for the P51, while Claudio made a different shadow file for the British Mustang III.

Geo's efforts and skill provided a great base for me to work with to further complete the P51B shape. It is actually more his plane than mine. I added a new correct nose shape and spinner and changed the wing tips and rear deck shape slightly to more accurately capture the P51B's shape.

Claudio also helped here. He made the new medium distance model, which now has a spinner and clear canopy.

To use, just copy and paste all .3dz and .tpc files into the EAW main directory.

Cheers

Captain Kurt
